PAINKILLER review

Woohoo! I haven't had this much fun since playing Serious Sam! That game was great and all simply because it was all nonsense and hordes of enemies on your butt, there was never a boring time. Painkiller is that kind of game also but the people from Dreamcatcher sure does it in style!

You start off as this guy, along with his girlfriend and they got involved in a car accident. The girl gets to enter heaven but somehow our hero here is denied of heaven; instead has to earn it by killing Lucifer's top 4 commanders. Some story this is! I guess you need some kind of story to get things going, and this is just fine.

The weapon in Painkiller is awesome. You get the Painkiller which is a melee weapon but also a laser thingy. The stake gun is a one hit-one kill weapon which is good but it's slow to reload. I kinda like how the stake shoots and stick the badguy to the wall and left him dangling there. Oh yeah, this game has a cool physics engine and you'll get to see arms and bodies flailing around. It's simply sweet. Even the objects have the same property and it is a great game mechanics.

The place your going is in between Heaven and Hell, but the environment strangely seems like on earth, except more eerily. You'll never get bored of going through the levels as all the levels are unique. You'll be going to military base, the harbour, train station and also an opera house! Weird huh? You'll get a dozen or so different enemies and all are very distinct.

The big bosses in the game are something. And when i mean big, they're BIG!!! Some 3-4 storeys tall. Whoa! But it was fun beating them if you know how to. The end level, which is the Hell...is pretty cool. You expect to run into lots of fiery fires right? Not! It's cool how they depict wars of different eras as the setting. The last level was pretty big y'all. Simply stunning!

The game graphics are well done and looks sharp. You'll have tons of enemies onto you and the screen still holds up. Special mention also to the Audio. I'ts pretty downright scary and gets your heart beating real fast.

My rating: 8/10 (Outrageously scaree!!!)
